Devotional illustration What are you building your life on?
Tip: read the verse out loud and say a short prayer together as a family.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

🌟 What does this mean?

Jesus teaches us something very important:

It is not enough just to hear the Word of God… we must also put it into practice.

The rock represents Jesus and His teachings.

When we live obeying what He says, our life becomes strong and firm.

The rains and winds represent the problems, difficulties, and sad moments we all experience. But if our life is built on Jesus, we do not collapse.

🤔 Let's think for a moment

Do I only listen to the Bible… or do I also try to obey it?

When someone treats me badly, do I respond with anger or with love?

When I make a mistake, do I ask for forgiveness?

When I am afraid, do I trust God?

Building on the rock means choosing to do what is right, even when it is difficult.

🙌 What can we do today?

• Read a small verse and apply it during the day.

• Decide to obey God in something specific (telling the truth, sharing, forgiving).

• Pray and ask Jesus to be the foundation of our life.

Every small right decision is like placing a brick on the rock.

💬 Phrase to remember

✨ “If I listen to and obey Jesus, my life will be firm.” ✨

🙏 Final prayer

Lord Jesus,

I want to build my life on You.

Help me not only to listen to Your Word but to live it every day.

When problems come, remind me that You are my firm rock.

Make me strong in faith and full of Your love.

Amen 💛
