turn to Godfollow Jesus

Introduction

Sometimes we want to draw near to God, serve Jesus, and do good things, but we feel like we don't know how to start. Maybe we are tired, distracted, afraid, or feel that our heart has drifted away a little.

But Jesus does not look at whether we are great, famous, or perfect. He looks at our heart. And when a child, a mother, a father, or a family wants to turn to God, Jesus welcomes them with love.

This message reminds us of something very important: serving Jesus does not begin by doing huge things in front of everyone, but by turning our hearts to God and loving others as He loves us.

Message development

In the Bible, the people of Israel experienced a very sad moment. God had brought them out of Egypt, cared for them, and guided them, but they quickly forgot Him.

InExodus 32:8, God said that the people had quickly turned away from the path He had commanded them. They made a golden calf and began to trust in an idol.

But the problem was not just the golden calf that was seen on the outside. The real problem was in the heart. The people had stopped trusting in God and sought security in something that could not save them.

Sometimes, we too can drift away from God without realizing it. We don't make a golden calf, but we can let other things take the first place in our hearts: fear, sadness, distraction, pride, or trust in things that do not bring us closer to Jesus.

Jesus teaches us something different. He said:

“For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.”Mark 10:45

Serving Jesus does not mean being the most important. Serving Jesus means loving, helping, forgiving, sharing, and having a heart willing to return to God every day.

Can Jesus help me return to God?

Yes. Jesus can help you return to God.

It doesn't matter if you have been distracted, if you have stopped praying, or if you feel your heart is far away. Jesus does not reject you. He calls you with love.

Returning to God does not mean being afraid. It means opening your heart and saying: “Jesus, I need you. Help me draw near to you again.”

When we return to Jesus, He teaches us to love, to serve, and to trust. He cleanses our heart and helps us walk again with faith.

Application for daily life

Signs that the heart may be drifting away from God

Sometimes our heart slowly drifts away. Some signs can be:

  • Stopping prayer.

  • Stopping listening to the Word of God.

  • Letting fear rule more than faith.

  • Seeking security in things that cannot save.

  • Forgetting to help, forgive, or love others.

But Jesus always invites us to return.

How can I return to God?

You can return to God in a simple way:

  • Speak to Jesus sincerely.

  • Ask for forgiveness if you have drifted away.

  • Open your heart to His love.

  • Trust that He welcomes you.

  • Seek to serve others with love.

Every time you help someone, share, forgive, or are kind, you are serving Jesus.

Phrase to remember

No matter how far your heart feels; if you return to Jesus, He welcomes you with love.

Final prayer

Lord Jesus, forgive me if my heart has drifted away from you. Help me to return to God with love and trust. I want to listen to you, obey you, and serve you every day. Teach me to love, help, and forgive as you do. Thank you because you always receive me with love. Amen.
