View resourceHas your child ever felt sad after making a mistake? Sometimes, children think that when they do something wrong, they will never regain the trust of others. However, Peter's story teaches us thatJesus loves us, offers us forgiveness, and invites us to return to Him.
Peter was one of Jesus' closest disciples. Although he loved Him deeply, he also had moments of fear and weakness. But his story did not end with his mistakes: Jesus sought him out, spoke with him, and gave him a new chance.
AtLittle Ones of the Kingdomwe have prepared a free biblical resource about Peter's restoration, with illustrations, a teacher's guide, reflection exercises, and a beautiful coloring page.
An opportunity to teach children that Jesus' love is greater than our mistakes!
Main Bible Text:John 21:15-19
Additional references in the material:Matthew 4:18-20 and Luke 22:54-62.
Peter was a fisherman who left his nets to follow Jesus. During the time he was with Him, he witnessed miracles, listened to His teachings, and learned many things.
However, when Jesus was arrested, Peter was afraid and denied knowing Him three times.
After His resurrection, Jesus met with Peter again by the sea.
Instead of rejecting him for what had happened, Jesus spoke with him and asked three times if he loved Him. He also entrusted him with the responsibility of caring for His followers and called him to continue following Him.
This story reminds us of a beautiful truth:our mistakes do not have to be the end of our relationship with Jesus. We can approach Him sincerely, acknowledge our faults, and continue learning to live according to His teachings.
Follow me." — John 21:19
These words remind us that Jesus continued calling Peter to follow Him.
Through this material, children will be able to:
Get to know Peter:discover that he was a fisherman, brother of Andrew, and one of Jesus' disciples.
Understand that we can all make mistakes:recognize that even Peter had moments of fear and weakness.
Learn about Jesus' forgiveness:understand how Jesus restored Peter and gave him a new chance.
Recognize the importance of asking for forgiveness:reflect on what to do when we make a mistake.
Learn to follow Jesus:remember that we can come to Him with sincerity, love, and obedience.
The purpose is for children to understand that making mistakes does not mean they should turn away from Jesus, but that they can seek Him and learn from their errors.
The resource includes5 illustrated pagesorganized to facilitate biblical teaching at home or in Sunday school.

It also includes a lesson on hope and restoration.

Learning:Understand that we can turn to Jesus with our difficulties and mistakes.
Note for teachers: the dynamic is explained in the guide, but the PDF does not include a separate cut-out template of the paper net.
The guide also includes questions with expected answers to review who Peter was, what he did before the restoration, what Jesus did for him, and what we can learn from this story.
These questions allow the teacher to verify that the children understood the central message.
You can adapt the material to the available time and the needs of your group.
Step 1. Download the free PDF.
Keep the material to use at home, in church, or during a Bible class.
Step 2. Print the necessary pages.
You can use the illustrated sheets to explain the story and give each child the activity sheet and the coloring page.
Step 3. Introduce Peter.
Use the first page to tell who he was, what he did for a living, and how he began to follow Jesus.
Step 4. Read the biblical story.
Read John 21:15-19 and explain how Jesus spoke to Peter after His resurrection.
Step 5. Do the activities.
Invite the children to mark answers, complete sentences, match concepts, write, and color. Accompany them when they need help.
If you are going to use the group dynamic, prepare the paper nets in advance.
Step 6. Talk and pray together.
Ask what they learned about Jesus and Peter. Finish with a simple prayer of gratitude for God's love and forgiveness.
Tip for teachers:avoid presenting Peter's mistakes as a cause for shame. The guide itself reminds that the teaching should focus on Jesus, His love, His forgiveness, and the possibility of starting anew.
After completing the activities, take a few minutes to talk:
What did Peter do for a living before following Jesus?
What did Peter do when he was afraid?
How did Jesus treat Peter after his mistake?
Why do you think it is important to recognize when we do something wrong?
What can we do when we hurt someone with our words?
What does this story teach you about Jesus' love?
Listen to their answers patiently. These conversations can help children express their feelings and better understand the teaching.
During this week, encourage the children to remember Peter's story when they make a mistake.
For example, if they respond poorly to their parents, argue with a sibling, or say something that hurts someone else, they can acknowledge what happened, ask for forgiveness, and try to act differently.
They can also take a moment to pray and ask Jesus for help.
The teaching is not about being perfect, but about learning to recognize our mistakes, accept forgiveness, and continue growing in our relationship with God.
“Jesus can restore me when I fail.”
A simple phrase for children to remember that they can come back to Jesus with confidence and sincerity.
