View resourceIn this Bible class for children, we will learn the story ofMoses and His Calling, a very special moment when God spoke to Moses from a burning bush and gave him an important mission: to go before Pharaoh to free His people.
This teaching helps children understand that God knows us by name, calls us with love, and does not leave us alone when He asks us to obey.
Moses was tending sheep in the desert when he saw something surprising: a bush that was burning with fire but was not consumed. As he approached, God called him by name: “Moses, Moses!”.
God told him that He had seen the suffering of His people and wanted to send him to Pharaoh to bring Israel out of Egypt. Moses felt afraid and made excuses, but God made a powerful promise: He would be with him.
The story reminds us that God does not call perfect people, but people willing to trust Him.
That children understand thatGod calls by name, gives a mission, and accompanies those who obey His voice, even when they feel fear or insecurity.
Exodus 3:10
“So now, go, and I will send you to Pharaoh.”
The context can also be read fromExodus 3:1-12to better understand the call of Moses.
God called Moses in a special way. Moses did not feel capable, he was afraid and made excuses, but God did not reject him. On the contrary, He promised to be with him.
This truth is very important for children: God does not expect us to be perfect to use us. He wants us to learn to listen to His voice, trust in His presence, and obey with faith.
Key teaching:God does not call the perfect. God accompanies those He calls.
Children can live out this teaching in simple everyday situations:
At home:obeying their parents with love and respect.
At school:doing what is right even when they are afraid or embarrassed.
At church:serving joyfully and participating with a willing heart.
Just as God was with Moses, He is also with every child when they choose to obey and trust Him.
“If God calls me, He accompanies me.”
They can also say together:
With God's help, I will answer His call.
Give a child a small note with a simple mission, for example:
Your mission is to take this message to the other side of the room.
Then ask:
Then connect the activity with the story:
Today we learned that God gave Moses a very big mission. Although Moses was afraid, God promised to be with him.
“When I am afraid, God __________ with me.”
Answer:is
Lord, thank you because you know me by name. Thank you because you have a purpose for my life. Even though I sometimes feel afraid, help me to listen to you and obey you. Teach me to trust that You will be with me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
