Based on Mark 7:31-37.
Have you ever needed someone to stop and pay attention to you?
In the region of Decapolis, some people brought a deaf man who had difficulty speaking to Jesus. They begged Him to place His hand on him.
Jesus took him away from the crowd, put His fingers into the man's ears, and touched his tongue with saliva. Then He looked up to heaven, sighed, and saidEphphatha, which meansBe opened.
At that moment, the man was able to hear and speak clearly. Jesus asked them not to tell anyone, but the news spread. People were amazed at what He had done.
What does this story teach?
This encounter invites us to discover and practice important lessons:
Jesus has the power to heal. This miracle encourages us to present our needs to Him with confidence.
Every person deserves attention and respect. That man was already valuable before receiving healing.
We can accompany each other with love. Those who brought the man to Jesus remind us of the importance of being close to others.
Our dignity does not depend on our abilities.Hearing or speaking differently does not make someone less valuable.
We can ask God for healing without promising a cure. Living with a disability does not mean having less faith or being less loved by Him.
Let's think for a moment
Imagine you are playing and someone communicates in a different way than you do. You might need to wait, pay more attention, or ask how they prefer to converse.
What could you change in the game so they can also participate? Would you give them time to express their own ideas?
