Do you feel like there is no way out? Discover how to trust God, pray, and move forward when you go through difficult times.
Read answerHave you ever prayed asking God to help you with a problem, answer a question, or change a difficult situation? We have all had moments when we need His help. And how beautiful it is to know that we can come to Him with our concerns.
But imagine that, after receiving many blessings and witnessing great miracles, your heart still longs for something more. No more gifts, no more answers, but to know better the One who has given them to you.
That is what happened with Moses. His story reminds us of a truth that we can also teach our children:the greatest blessing is not just receiving something from God, but learning to know His heart.
Moses witnessed extraordinary events. He saw how God parted the sea so that the people of Israel could cross it. He witnessed how the Lord provided them with food in the desert and how He brought water out of a rock when they were thirsty.
How many reasons he had to be thankful!
However, Moses understood that there was something more valuable than miracles: the presence of God.
In Exodus 33 we find a very special moment. Moses was speaking with the Lord and desired to know His ways better. He also recognized how much he and the people needed the divine presence to continue their journey.
Then he made a surprising request:
Exodus 33:18 (RVR1960):
Then he said, "Please, show me your glory.
Moses was not asking for riches, comfort, or a new miraculous sign. His request revealed a deep desire to behold more of God's greatness.
Moses wanted to know more deeply the One who had guided and accompanied him.
In the same chapter, God responds to his request by speaking of His goodness, His mercy, and His freedom to show compassion. He also explains that there are limits to what a human being can behold of His glory.
This encounter teaches us that knowing God is not only about marveling at what He does, but about discovering who He is: His love, His goodness, His faithfulness, and His mercy.
We can thank Him for every blessing and, at the same time, desire a closer relationship with Him.
Because gifts are beautiful, but knowing the Giver is even more valuable.
In our video from the "Questions to Jesus" section, a little girl asks a very sincere question: how can we draw closer to the Lord?
It is a dramatized conversation that helps us reflect on an important biblical teaching: God desires that we seek Him with a sincere heart.
And the most beautiful thing is that we do not need to do extraordinary things to begin.
We can know God more in the small moments of each day, when we dedicate time to prayer, listen to the teachings of His Word, and learn to trust Him.
You don't need to use difficult words or make long prayers.
You can tell Him how you feel, thank Him for your family, talk to Him about your worries, and ask Him to teach you to know Him better.
Children can do this too. A simple prayer, expressed sincerely, is a beautiful way to begin cultivating their relationship with God.
The Bible helps us know God's character, His promises, and His teachings.
When we read about Jesus, we discover His compassion for those who suffered, His love for children, His patience, and His willingness to reach out to those in need.
A family can start by reading a few verses each day and talking about what they have learned.
The important thing is not to read many pages, but to allow God's Word to gradually transform our way of thinking, loving, and acting.
Worship is not only about singing Christian songs.
We also worship when we give thanks, obey His Word, help others, and strive to live in a way that pleases Him.
A child can honor God by sharing with someone, asking for forgiveness, or showing love to a friend who is sad.
Each of these actions can become an expression of gratitude and love toward the Lord.
This is one of the deepest teachings from the story of Moses.
Sometimes we seek God more intensely when we need an answer. But what happens when everything seems fine? Do we still dedicate time to Him?
Loving God also means wanting to be close to Him when we are not expecting anything in return.
That does not mean our problems will disappear or that we will always receive the answers we desire. It means our faith can grow even in difficult moments, as we learn to trust in His love and faithfulness.
Imagine if a child only sought their parents when they wanted to receive a gift. The gifts might make them happy, but they would miss out on much more valuable moments: a conversation, a hug, an afternoon together, or the opportunity to get to know them better.
Our relationship with God also needs time, love, and closeness.
That is why, as a family, we can learn to seek the Lord not only when we have a need but also to thank Him, know His Word, and enjoy moments of prayer together.
There is no need to start with a complicated routine. A few minutes of biblical conversation before bed, a prayer during breakfast, or a song of praise can help us cultivate that habit.
The greatest blessing is not only receiving something from God but knowing His heart more each day.
May this truth encourage us to look beyond what we expect to receive and remind us of the value of walking close to the Lord.
Beloved Lord,
Thank you for your love, your goodness, and all the blessings you give us every day.
Forgive us for the times when we only come to you to ask for help and forget to dedicate time to know you.
Today we want to learn from the heart of Moses, who desired to know more of your glory and your presence.
Teach us to seek you sincerely, to love your Word, and to trust you, even when things do not happen as we expect.
Help our children grow in faith and discover how much you love them. May our home be a place where we can talk with you, thank you, and learn together from your teachings.
Lord Jesus, we want to know you more each day.
In your name we pray.
Amen.
After reading this story, take a few minutes to talk with your children.
Why do you think Moses wanted to know God more, even though he had already seen so many miracles?
When do we usually seek God more: when we need help or also when we want to thank Him?
What can we do this week as a family to get to know the Lord better?
There is no need to rush with the answers. Listen to your children lovingly and take this moment to share what having a personal relationship with God means to you.
Today we can learn from Moses and make his desire a personal prayer.
Maybe you have been waiting for an answer for a long time, going through a difficulty, or wishing for something to change in your life. You can continue presenting those needs before God, but remember that you can also approach Him simply because you want to know Him better.
